Taylormade r7 Draw Driver
The TaylorMade r7 Draw series clubs are specifically designed with the player in mind, to aid the shot every time you play. Adding distance and reducing the potential to slice the shots off into the rough, deep into the woods or maybe seek to prevent the balls splashing off into the sea on a coastal course.
TaylorMade pioneered the use of metal drivers, and their extensive r7 Draw range offers golfers a coherent selection of clubs for their kit bag. This short round up covers just the r7 Draw Driver, a leading presence on the PGA tours.
One of the key features behind the technology allowing the TaylorMade r7 Draw Driver club to help reduce slicing is the Draw Weighted technology. This tech involves an engineered open channel toward the toe of the clubs head, removing a whole lot of weight compared to a traditionally manufactured club. This allows the placement of specifically targeted weight at the clubs heel, moving the clubs center of gravity closer to the shaft.
This technique of weight manipulation speeds the closing of the club face on the down swing, improving a slicers chance of a squarer hit, as slicing the ball is often a result of leaving the club face open relative to the path of the swing. The Draw Weighted Technology basically rotates the head faster to square up the head before impact with the ball.
Generally the closed face approach not only aids slice prevention but allows players to control the ball for a straight hit, or choose to move it left and right.
The 460cc size head bumps right up against the legal limits and helps to offer the highest possible moment of inertia (MOI), contributing forgiveness and to the prevention of the club head twisting on impact with the ball and ensuring a true shot.
Another TaylorMade r7 Draw feature that is absolutely key to mention is the Inverted Cone Technology, which is claimed to expand the high coefficient of restitution (COR) zone of the face, promoting considerably higher ball velocity and significantly longer drives. The COR relates in laymans terms to the springy nature of the sweet spot of the face.
A lightweight soft tipped RE*AX 55gram Mitsubishi Rayon graphite shaft completes the package and helps to give the user a high launch angle and minimise right to left motion of the ball when in flight.
